Convenient entry for foreign tourists into Hainan is also another key issue in the plan. Now, visitors from 26 nations can access the destination visa-free. Finland, Denmark, Norway, Kazakstan and Ukraine, were recently added to the previous list of 21.
The visa waivers will come into effect next month. The modified visa policies have also reduced the group size requirement from 5 to 2, for visitors from Russia, South Korea and Germany. They can also stay longer for 21 days instead of 15. The modification is designed to suit longer paid holidays.
Figures show the number of visitors accessing Hainan visa-free is increasing 40 percent year-on-year. It’s expected to hit 1 million in five years.
